Virtual staging furnishes a photo of an empty room. The room stays as shot, and only furniture and decor are added. Use it to help buyers picture how a vacant listing could live.
Before you start
You need:
- One photo of one empty room, saved in your Media Library under My Images. You can upload it from the picker if it isn't there yet (images up to 12 MB).
- Enough credits. Each run costs 20 credits on both Free and Pro.
The photo check is free. On the Free plan you get up to 30 checks an hour. Pro has no limit on checks.
If you're on the Free plan and have fewer than 20 credits, you'll see You need credits to run this above the form, with Add credits and Or go Pro buttons.
How to stage a room
- Go to agentr.ee/workspace/studio and open Virtual staging under Create images.
- Under Add an empty room, click Choose a photo.
- In the Media Library, switch to the My Images tab and pick your photo. To add a new one, use the Upload tab.
- Wait while it shows Checking the room…. A photo that passes shows Empty room — good to stage.
- Under What room is this?, pick the room type.
- Under Pick a furniture style, pick a style.
- Under Fine-tune it, choose How much furniture and Decor. You can add a short note under Anything specific? (up to 200 characters).
- Leave Burn “Virtually Staged” into the photo on unless you're disclosing it another way.
- Click Stage this room · 20 credits.
- Wait for Furnishing the room… to finish. It usually takes under a minute. You can leave the page, and it'll be waiting.
- Drag the before/after slider to check the result, then click Download or Save to media library.
What the photo check blocks
The check runs before any charge. If a photo is blocked, you'll see Nothing has been charged. Pick a different photo to carry on. It blocks:
- Rooms that already have furniture. Furniture in the shot can't be removed. One chair or a rug counts as furniture. Built-ins, counters, curtains, fans, light fixtures, appliances and a fireplace don't.
- Exterior shots. Interior rooms and covered patios are fine.
- Bathrooms.
If the check can't run, you'll see We couldn't check this photo. You can still stage it, but make sure the room is empty first.

Disclosing a staged photo
The Burn “Virtually Staged” into the photo toggle is on by default. It adds a small Virtually Staged label in the bottom corner. The result screen also shows a Disclosure — use this wherever the photo goes box with the text Virtually staged. and a Copy button. It notes that most US MLSs and NAR guidance require a virtually staged photo to be disclosed as one. If you turned the label off, put that text in your caption or remarks.
Follow your MLS rules and your local disclosure rules for digitally altered photos. Check with your MLS or broker if you're unsure what applies to you.
Tips for better results
- Pick the right room type. It decides what furniture goes in. A dining room gets a table and chairs, not a sofa.
- Choose Light furniture for a small room so the floor stays visible.
- Decor set to Moderate adds wall art, which means hanging something on your client's walls.
- Use Anything specific? for details like "leave the corner by the fireplace clear."
- Check the walls, floor and windows on the slider before you use the photo.
Common questions
Does a new style cost more credits?
Yes. Regenerate · 20 credits and Try another style · 20 credits each lead to a new 20-credit run. The charge happens when you click Stage this room again.
What size is the staged photo?
It has the same dimensions as the photo you started with, so before and after line up.
What if a run fails?
You'll see That didn't work with a reason and a Back to the form button. When a run fails, your credits come back automatically.
Where do my staged photos go?
Every result is saved in the Media Library's AI Studio tab, under All. Save to media library also copies it into My Images, so you can use it on your pages and posts. It's also on your Generations page as a staged photo.
