When a photo won't upload, the cause is almost always the file type, the file size, or a full photo gallery. This article lists the files you can upload, explains each error message, and covers the separate rules for uploading an MLS sheet.
What you can upload
| Where | File types | Max size |
|---|---|---|
| Website blocks, profile image, brand images and property page photos | JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, WebP | 12 MB per file |
| MLS sheet on a new property page | JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, PDF | 10 MB |
HEIC and SVG files are refused. Image buttons take images only, so you can't upload a video or a PDF through them.
There's no minimum or maximum pixel size. Before uploading, we shrink large JPG, PNG and WebP photos so the long side is 1920 pixels. GIF and BMP files are sent as they are.
How to fix a photo upload error
- Read the red message at the top of the Media Library window, or under the photo field.
- Find the message in the table below and follow the fix.
- Click Upload again and pick the corrected file.

| No room for more images. Remove one first. | The gallery is full. Remove a photo from the gallery first. |
| Only 2 more allowed — 3 file(s) skipped. | You picked more photos than there's room for, so some were skipped. Pick fewer, or remove a photo first. |
| You can add up to 12 images. | The gallery limit was reached. Remove a photo to make room. |

The file names and numbers in these messages change to match your upload.

Tips
- Photos from an iPhone may be saved as HEIC. Save or export them as JPG before uploading.
- Check a file's type and size on your computer before you upload it.
- A property page gallery holds 12 photos. Pick your best 12 before you start.
- Scanned MLS sheets can't be read as PDFs. A clear photo or screenshot of the sheet works instead.
Common questions
Does a bigger photo look better on my site?
Not necessarily. Large photos are shrunk to 1920 pixels on the long side before uploading, so a huge original doesn't add detail. Any clear photo under 12 MB works.
My upload finished. Why isn't the photo in my Media Library tab?
Uploads go to the tab that fits the spot you opened the window from. A listing photo lands in Listings, and a profile photo in Brand Images. See How to upload, find and reuse images in the Media Library.
What about uploads in AI Studio?
Some AI Studio tools have their own upload rules. If a tool won't accept your photo or a run fails, see What to do when an AI generation fails or gets stuck.
Still stuck?
