How to create a listicle that captures leads

A listicle is a list-style article, like "7 best coffee shops in Austin" or "5 mistakes first-time buyers make". Agentr.ee's AI writes the intro, the list and the conclusion, and adds a lead form at the end. Share it as a helpful local guide and collect the details of readers who want more.

Before you start

  • Every listicle starts with AI. There's no blank listicle, so you'll always pick a headline and edit what AI writes.
  • On the Free plan you can create 1 listicle and publish 1 listicle. Deleting a listicle doesn't give that creation back.
  • Listicles don't use AI credits.
  • For local ideas, set your market first. If you haven't, the first visit asks for your Cities, Counties and Neighborhoods. Add at least one of each, then click Save & finish setup.

How to create a listicle

  1. In the sidebar, open Lead gen and click Listicles.
  2. Click Create listicle.
  3. Type a headline and click Create listicle. Or click Edit & publish on one of the suggestion cards. This builds the listicle and opens it for editing. It doesn't publish anything yet.
  4. Wait while "Building your listicle…" shows.
  5. The listicle editor opens when it's ready.

You can also start one from your dashboard. Look for a Local guide suggestion and click Create it now.

How to edit your listicle

  1. Open Introduction to change the Headline, Intro text, Featured image, Conclusion headline and Conclusion text.
  2. Open Listicle items. Edit each item's Headline, Text and Image. Drag items to reorder them.
  3. Click Add list item to add one, or the trash icon to remove one. A listicle needs at least one item.
  4. Open Setup form fields. Click Add form field to add fields such as Phone, Message, Buying timeframe or Seller property address. Use the Required toggle on each field.
  5. Under Form content, edit the Form headline and Form subheading.
  6. Under CTA button preferences, set the Button title and the button colors.
  7. Open SEO settings. Set the Meta title, Meta description and Page URL.

How to publish and share your listicle

  1. Click Preview changes to check it.
  2. Click Publish listicle. On your phone, tap Publish.
  3. In the "Your listicle is live!" window, click Copy link.
  4. Share the link in your posts, bio, emails and texts.

If something is missing, a window lists what to fix. Click Fix errors, fill in the missing parts and publish again. After you edit a live listicle, click Publish changes.

Readers see your headline, intro, numbered list and conclusion, then your form. Each lead lands in My leads with a "Submitted a form" activity. You also get an email about it, or it goes to Zapier if you've connected Zapier on Pro.

Tips

  • Change the default form text. It talks about a newsletter, and Agentr.ee doesn't send newsletters. Offer something you'll really send, like a price list or a moving checklist.
  • The Meta title is the name in your Listicles list and the browser tab. The Headline is the title readers see on the page.
  • Set your Page URL before you share. Changing it later changes the link.
  • Keep the form short. First name and email are often enough.
  • Swap the stock photos for your own local photos where you can.

If you move from Pro to Free, your most recently updated published listicle stays live. The others are archived until you upgrade again.

Common questions

Is a listicle the same as a local guide?

Yes. Your dashboard calls it a local guide. In the sidebar it's under Listicles, and its link ends in /articles/ plus the page URL.

Can I create a second listicle on Free?

No. Free includes one listicle creation, and deleting it doesn't give it back. Edit your listicle instead, or upgrade to Pro.

What if the listicle doesn't finish building?

Your allowance isn't used. Try again, or see What to do when an AI generation fails or gets stuck.
