How to edit your carousel

The carousel editor is where you make a carousel yours. It opens after you create one with the Carousels tool or Auto customize. You can change any word, crop or swap photos, try another design, set your colors, polish the caption and download the slides.

Before you start

You need a carousel you made with the Carousels tool or Auto customize. The editor works on both plans for your own carousels. To reopen one, use Edit in Content → My content (Pro), or the link on the Generations page for carousels made in the Carousels tool.

How to edit the text

1. Click any text on a slide.
2. Type your changes. Each text box holds up to 500 characters.
3. To format, select some words and click B (bold), I (italic), U (underline), S (strikethrough) or Aa (accent phrase).
4. Press Enter or click outside the text to finish.

Enter finishes editing. It doesn't add a new line, because each text box is one paragraph. Your text saves on its own a moment after you stop typing. The accent phrase is drawn in the design's accent color. Use the left and right arrow keys, or swipe on a phone, to move between slides.

How to crop or swap a photo

1. Click the photo to select it.
2. Drag the photo to move it inside the frame.
3. Zoom with a pinch, your mouse wheel or the Zoom slider, up to 3×. Click Reset to start over.
4. To use a different photo, click Swap photo or the Photo button at the top.
5. In Photo for this slide, pick a shot from a Photoshoot, from Photos from this post (Auto customize carousels), or click Choose from Media Library to upload or pick any image you own.

If you pick a shot from a different photoshoot, the whole carousel switches to that set. The other slides lose their crops.

How to change the design and brand

1. Click Design to see "Same words, different layout", then pick a design. Your words stay. Fonts reset to the new design's defaults.
2. Click Brand to change fonts and colors.
3. Pick a Headline font or Body font where the design lets you choose.
4. Set the colors the design uses, like Primary colour or Accent, with a swatch or the color wheel.
5. Edit Handle on slides if you want a different handle. It starts as your agentr.ee link.

Fonts always come from the design, not from your website. Your Primary colour starts from your website settings, and the design sets the other colors. Changes here apply to this carousel only and never change your website.

How to write the caption

1. Click Caption.
2. Edit the caption. It holds up to 2,200 characters, and a counter shows your hashtags.
3. Click Copy caption to paste it into Instagram.
4. Or click Rewrite for a fresh caption. On a Carousels tool carousel, it is rewritten from your original idea. On an Auto customize carousel, the post's caption is said again in your voice.

Rewrite costs 1 credit on Free and is free on Pro, even though the button shows no price. It counts toward the limit of 10 carousels an hour. It replaces your current caption and there is no undo.

How to save and download

1. Click Save to render every slide at full size and store them with the carousel.
2. Click Download to get a zip of JPEG images, one per slide. On a phone, tap Export first.

This usually takes under a minute. You can click Keep editing while it works. Slides are 1080 × 1350 pixels.

Tips for better results

• Copy your caption before you click Rewrite, in case you like the old one better.
• Fill in anything highlighted, like "Add your city" or "Add your phone number", before you download.
• Try a few layouts from Design. Your words stay the same when you switch.
• Save or Download again after edits. The Download button in My content gives you your last export.

Common questions

Do I need to click Save to keep my text?

No. Text saves automatically. Save renders the finished slide images, so your download in My content is up to date.

Does the Brand sheet change my website colors?

No. Brand changes apply to this carousel only.

Why did my other slides lose their crop?

You picked a photo from a different photoshoot. That switches the whole carousel to the new set, and the other slides reset their crops.

Does swapping photos cost credits?

No. Picking photos from your photoshoots, the post or your Media Library is free.
